How To Choose The Right Career ?

Right career choice is very crucial for the success of any student in his or her life. Understanding your career goals and options with earning potential, will help you identify the right career. More importantly, students are required to know about their interests and skills which are more described below.

How Do I Find Careers That Match My Interest and Skills?

The first thing about career choice is to do the self assessment. The self assessment is very necessary and plays a very big role in right career choice.

Every student should do his or her self assessment very clearly and honestly and should have right answers of the basic self assessment questions, which are mentioned below:

Basic Self Assessment Questions For Students:

These questions need proper answers and to be written separately by the students themselves.

1. What do you like to do?

2. Is there any specific field which you want to join as a career?

3. Why do you want to join that field?

4. What are things which you are good at?

5. What excites you?

6. What are your strengths?

7. What are your weaknesses?

8. What makes you feel good?

9. Which subject you liked the most in your school or college level?

After having right answers of the self assessment questions, should should have written those answers separately to have more focused answers.

What If I Am Still Not Sure What I Want To do?

Students generally say that schools and colleges led them where they did not think about previously and they get confused about the right career choice. They ask from others and need help. Here the students are advised to have a proper search and gain knowledge about different fields or qualifications which are available to them.

Simply the students can search for these different qualifications from Google search engine and gain the key information about every qualification.

Here Are Few Basic Steps To Gain The Knowledge About Different Qualifications:

Here are 8 steps to follow for gaining the knowledge about different qualifications, which are available to students, to be adopted as a career.

Step 1:

Make a list of different qualifications, which are available to the students, keeping in view the interests and skills.

Step 2:

Go to the Google search engine.

Step 3:

Search for each qualification one by one and gain in depth knowledge about what that qualification is all about. What is the duration, subjects involved, fees, scope and skills required for that particular qualification.

Step 4:

Write down the things mentioned in Step 3 above for each qualification.

Step 5:

After searching all the identified qualification and writing the key things, identify the one which matches your interest and skills. Identify 3 to 4 of those qualifications which matches your interests and skills.

Step 6:

Do more in depth analysis of the short listed qualifications. Ask for expert advice, meet with people, who are already in those qualifications or completed. Ask for help and more information from these people. Do more internet research and go deeper in your research.

Step 7:

Students should have all the information about the colleges, universities or institutes, which provide the selected qualifications.

Step 8:

Choose the best suited qualification, after performing the basic self assessment exercise, as mentioned in the beginning and after performing an in depth research of different qualifications.

What Students Will Be Able To Do After Performing Above Steps and Self Assessment Exercise?

After performing the above recommended self assessment and qualifications research exercise, students will become focused and in a better position to choose the right career. There are other various factors which should be considered as well, which vary from student to student.

I hope that the this post will help students in identification of their interests and skills and in identification and choosing right career.
